A small Canadian company that sells a low-cost generic version of Viagra has received approval from the European Union (EU) for its use in its erectile dysfunction treatment, according to a new report by a French medical journal called.
The report, which was published on Tuesday inPharmaceuticals & Medical Devices, found that the company has received approval from the EU for its use in the treatment of erectile dysfunction, in addition to its other generic products, such as.
Medsafe was launched by the Israeli company Teva in March 2007.
The company is expected to begin production in 2011.
This is the first time that the company has received approval from the EU for its use in the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
“In 2010, we received approval from the EU for our use in the treatment of erectile dysfunction,” said Dr. Yaron Neirha, head of the company’s clinical development division.
Dr. Neirha said that the company’s erectile dysfunction treatment is approved for use in a number of different countries including the United States, Canada, Japan, India, Australia and Brazil.
In the United States, the FDA has approved its use for the treatment of impotence. In Canada, the drug is available on the Canada Medication Schedule.
“This was a very positive development for our company,” Dr. Neirha said.
“We feel that Teva is working with our European partners to make it a more affordable and accessible option for those suffering from erectile dysfunction,” said Dr. Jean-Pierre Garnier, vice president and general manager of Teva in the European business unit.
“This is an exciting development in our industry and a huge positive impact to Teva. We hope to be able to provide affordable treatment for erectile dysfunction in many European countries,” he added.
